'I could have signed Alexis and Ozil' - Wright brands Arsenal recruitment embarrassing

The former Gunners striker believes Arsene Wenger has been let down by those at his disposal, with the club having failed to unearth hidden gems
Ian Wright believes Arsenal have been let down by their recent business in the transfer market, with the former Gunners striker considering their recruitment to have been “embarrassing”.
Arsene Wenger has loosened the purse strings at Emirates Stadium on occasion, with big-money deals struck for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
They were, however, global superstars before arriving in England and required little scouting in order to determine their worth.
Wright feels it is an inability to unearth hidden gems that is now holding the club back, with it about time deals were struck for less obvious talents.
He has pointed to Leicester City’s ability to strike gold in N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez as examples of what can be achieved, with Wenger’s reluctance to make such moves leaving him with a squad that is now seriously underperforming and letting him down in his time of need.
Arsene Wenger Arsenal 2017Wright told The Sun: “Arsene Wenger says this is one of the best squads he’s ever had.
“Every single opportunity this team have to try and prove him right, they let him down dramatically.
“They let him down miserably. And he’s there on his own still trying to protect them. The recruitment at Arsenal is embarrassing.
“I could have bought Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez. That’s not finding gems like N’Golo Kante or Mahrez.”
